Ostinato refers to recurring elements in music that form a constant around which there is change and modification.
The violinist Franz Scheuerer and Cathedral Music Director Matthias Egger have chosen music that take up the principle of change in a constant environment and reflect the phenomenon of time — constant rhythm, constant change and modification, — for example with Johann Sebastian Bach's Passacaglia in C minor, or Ostinato compositions from Romantic (Reger, Rheinberger) and Modern (Nystedt, Eben).
