IMMER & EWIG

EVI Lichtungen, International Light Art Biennial,

The work ALWAYS & ETERNALLY writes lines of text in the entire space of the Literature Church with double terms from everyday life and lets them circle through the church space in a steady movement.
These double terms, such as Schall und Rauch, Saus und Braus, ready-made, in the work of Hartung and Trenz always combined with an & sign, are very common in German. Sometimes they contain opposites (heaven and hell), sometimes doublings (always and eternally), sometimes things or persons that simply belong together (salt and pepper, Hinz and Kunz). But almost always they tell short stories, mini–dramas of human existence. There is no shorter way to put victory and defeat, euphoria and despair in life into words.
