signs of life

Detlef Hartung and George Trenz show a cycle on the constant mutation of life. In the large-scale architectural projection they overwrite the statue of Kaiser Wilhelm I with animated text scores. Letters become alive and show movement patterns similar to those of colonies of insects or flocks of birds. In constant motion they change as if they follow wind and weather and connect to form clouds or currents or to disappear into the darkness. In their site–specific work Detlef Hartung and George Trenz confront the idea of timelessness and statics of monuments with motion and change as principales of liveliness.
